JKSSB Constable Notification 2026 out for 1815 Posts: Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have passed Matriculation from a recognized Board.
Domicile:
- Candidates must be domiciled in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority on or before 17 February 2026.
Physical Standards:
- Candidates must meet the prescribed Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Endurance Test (PET) requirements as detailed in the official notification.
Salary/Stipend
- Pay Scale: Level-2 (₹19,900 – ₹63,200 per month)
- Selected candidates will receive salary and other benefits as per the rules and regulations of the Government of UT of J&K.

- Minimum Age: 18 years (Candidates should not be born after 01-01-2007)
- Maximum Age: 28 years (Candidates should not be born before 01-01-1997)
- For In-Service Police Personnel: Maximum age is 30 years (Candidates should not be born before 01-01-1995)
- For Ex-Servicemen: The period of service in the Armed Forces will be deducted from actual age, and if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit by more than 3 years, the candidate will be considered eligible.

JKSSB Constable Notification 2026 out for 1815 Posts: Selection Process
Stage 1 – Written Test:
- Candidates will appear for a Written Examination consisting of Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions in English only.
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
- NCC Bonus Marks:
- NCC “C” Certificate – 5%
- NCC “B” Certificate – 3%
- NCC “A” Certificate – 2%
Stage 2 – Physical Standard Test (PST):
- Shortlisting for PST will be based on the written test score, with six times the number of vacancies in each category being shortlisted.
- Qualifying nature: PST is only qualifying.
Physical Standards:
- Males: Height – 5’6” (minimum), Chest – 32” (unexpanded), 33½” (expanded)
- Females: Height – 5’2” (minimum)
- Relaxation: For candidates from Gorkha Community/Bot Tribe, minimum height is relaxable by 2”.
Stage 3 – Physical Endurance Test (PET):
- Candidates who meet the physical standards will undergo PET. This is qualifying in nature.
PET Standards:
- Males: Long Race – 1600 meters in 6½ minutes, 20 Pushups
- Females: Long Race – 1000 meters in 6½ minutes, Shot Put (4 kg) – 14½ feet in 3 attempts
- Relaxation: Ex-Servicemen are allowed age-wise relaxation for Long Race and Pushups/Shot Put as per notification.
Stage 4 – Medical Examination:
- Selected candidates will undergo a medical fitness test to assess physical and medical suitability.
General Instructions
- Candidates must be domiciled in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
- The written examination will consist of MCQs in English only.
- Candidature is provisional and subject to document verification.
- Names, Date of Birth, Father’s Name, and Mother’s Name must match Matriculation Certificate.
- Requests for corrections in the application after submission will not be entertained.
- Submit applications well before the closing date.
- Only one online application per item number is allowed.
- Reservation: As per Jammu & Kashmir Reservation Rules.
- Horizontal Reservation: Women – 15%, SPOs – 15% (minimum 3 years engagement), Volunteer Home Guards – 4% (minimum 3 years engagement).
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are not eligible.
- Mobile phones or electronic devices are strictly prohibited during examination.
- No TA/DA will be provided for written test or document verification.
